Out of the icy, dark winter night, finally it appears:
a station wagon, stuffed full of kids, slowing down as it draws near.
"Christmas is coming," sing the kids. "Christmas is coming, be joyful.
One and all, be of good cheer."

Meanwhile, grandma and grampa, glad and relieved, watch with the porch light on.
Soon Christmas dinner to all will be served. Then we will sing Christmas songs.
"Thank you for coming, please come in. We'll have a wonderful time.

"With candy canes and mistletoe and gingerbread chalets.
And, underneath the Christmas tree, some new toys."
